Emily's remit is to build a world class editorial team and work alongside content and creative teams in Amsterdam and San Francisco

Emily Hare has joined social creative agency The Honey Partnership as its first editor, to oversee all editorial output for the agency’s western and Chinese clients.

Based in London and reporting to Mark Adams, Honey co-founder and chairman, Emily will build a world class editorial team and work alongside content and creative teams in Amsterdam and San Francisco to deliver world class social-led campaigns.

Emily joins The Honey Partnership from Contagious, a magazine, online platform, events series and consultancy, that focuses on leading creativity and new forms of advertising from around the world.

As Contagious’ managing editor, Emily identified and analysed the most important developments driving marketing, business, design, technology and creativity, wrote Brand Spotlight pieces, long-form features and interviewed leading creatives, thinkers and technologists.

“Honey’s social creative approach to marketing and China-inspired processes are at the cutting edge of innovation, just like technology in China,” Emily said. “This, along with the ambitious, progressive ethos of Honey is what drew me to the role, having lived in China and worked on projects at Contagious about how marketing is evolving. I’m excited to delve into this new role and build a team ready to take on editorial marketing for huge Chinese B2B brands in the west.”

Mark Terry-Lush, co-founder and managing director of The Honey Partnership, added:  “Emily is a highly respected journalist and we’re thrilled she brings her talent and expertise to The Honey Partnership. Emily has a deep understanding of innovation and technology, and a passion for China, I know she will be a key player in the next phase of Honey’s growth.”

Emily joined Contagious as an Intern in 2005, after studying English at Exeter and a GAP year spent teaching in China. She worked in various roles, including researcher, writer and production editor during her time at the company, before managing the quarterly publication and contagious.com. She also helped to build Contagious’ consultancy division, and has spoken at industry events including Ad:Tech, Most Contagious, Golden Drum and Advertising Week.

She has judged at BIMA and D&AD New Blood, serves on Superbrands’ Consumer Council, and The Creative Shootout's Advisory Board. She is passionate about mentoring, and mentors at School of Communication Arts 2.0 and through Bloom, a group for women in advertising. She was awarded a place on the prestigious Marketing Academy scholarship in 2015/2016, which provided a unique opportunity to develop her leadership skills and learn from industry veterans.
