Possessing an eye for creating sweeping, cinematic visuals, as well as crafting quirky comedic narratives, Slim Pictures’ director Pepe Puenzo poses a double-threat behind the lens.

The Argentinean director joins Slim with an impressive body of work in the commercial realm, with spots for Coca Cola, Johnny Walker, Burger King, Verizon, CA Lottery and VH1 to his credit.  Apart from his commercial work, Pepe has also helmed the comedic short "Mas Adelante".

An extremely versatile filmmaker, Pepe brings his gift for visuals to both comedies and dramatic manifestos internationally, with work in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian. He has helmed several comedy-driven campaigns for CP+B with Burger King’s “Pollo Perfecto” and “Sin Manos,” as well as the Belvita spot “Sloth No More,” which depicts the notoriously lazy mammal reinventing itself as an unstoppable multi-tasker after enjoying the energizing effects of Belvita crackers. The bolder side to Pepe’s humor is seen in his series of risqué Latin-market promos for MTV’s Sex Rehab, which portray an actress, an athlete and a musician, each unable to do their respective jobs.  The director translates the unavoidable distraction of the disease by literally bringing their inner fantasies to life onscreen.

Pepe’s dramatic storytelling can be seen in his Coco Cola “Chinese New Year” spot for Leo Burnett Shanghai, wherein the director weaves together narratives of several people as they journey to the annual celebration.  For MasterCard with McCann Madrid, Pepe makes his signature grand-scale visuals even more effective with seamless VFX work, showing us the point-of-view of one bicycle in perpetual motion as it travels through landscapes and time periods to find its rightful owner.

His meticulous attention to cinematic detail can be traced to his background as a student of philosophy at the National Institute of Film and Video Arts in Argentina.  The hankering of creativity within him eventually led Pepe toward filmmaking full-time.  Gaining experience in film and advertising, first as a camera operator, Pepe soon made the jump into the director's chair himself.

Pepe Puenzo joins Slim’s talented roster with a singular brand of artfully rendered visuals that often wield a quirky, comedic edge.  It’s a fierce combination to create exciting, memorable commercials that keep viewers riveted, even after they already know the punch line.
