Bernstein-Rein Asks Public to Rank 2016's Most Crazy Moments

When it comes to selecting the ultimate craziest moment of 2016, the match up between the Race to the White House vs. JayZ Cheating on Beyoncé are among the 16 different events featured in animated GIF format by Bernstein-Rein in its “Year of Madness Bracket Challenge.”

Played out in the same fashion as the NCAA March Madness bracket selection, the public has an opportunity to select among a variety of high profile happenings that took place during 2016 and through a bracket process, determine the event that they most hope to put behind them as we head into 2017.  The agency will make a donation to the charity who’s efforts are sort of the antidote to the craziness occurring in the winning moment, and invite participants to do so too. The “Year of Madness Bracket Challenge” is live at http://yearofmadness.com/ through December 16th.

“This is definitely not your typical holiday greeting card,” noted Chris Perkins, Managing Director of Bernstein-Rein. “This lets everyone put 2016 in perspective in a fun and engaging way while resetting for 2017 with what we hope will be an uplifting message.”

The BR creative teams sifted through hundreds of events that search and social channels revealed as the most popular or significant in 2016. They then created emblematic animated GIFs to illustrate the moments and paired each with a real charity that has some relation to the happening. Another first-round match up features an animated Pikachu being flushed down a toilet as representative of the Pokémon Go phenomenon, vs the historic Brexit vote. The connected charity for Pokémon Go is Charity Miles and for Brexit it is Migrant Help.

“We found the perfect charity to honour the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series and breaking the curse of the billy goat,” explained Darren Brickel, Creative Director at BR. “Heifer International gives goats to families in need, primarily in Africa. This is a fun and engaging way to give topical relevance to worthwhile causes.”

BR will share winning bracket results daily beginning December 19th with the winner being announced January 3rd. Fans can follow along on Twitter (@Bernstein_Rein) to see who wins.
