The music and sound design agency provide the perfect soundtrack to tranquillity and relaxation
Wednesday. Hump Day, if you will, is often seen as one of the most challenging days of the week. It’s the obstacle that we need to get past in order to reach that home stretch. With this in mind, we sought a way to motivate ourselves for the tailend of the work week by setting up regular P&S musical yoga sessions with our friends over at D&AD following on from our Wellness January series. Helped along by some delicious smoothies and inviting a host of the advertising industry’s finest, our Wednesdays have been completely rejuvenated.

“Why yoga?”, you ask. Firstly, it doesn’t require too much strenuous activity. Whilst we’re all for getting fit and active, intense cardio first thing in the morning certainly isn’t for everyone. That’s one of the joys of yoga, you can join in your first session and ease your way into it.

Music plays an integral role in sports and physical activity, with some psychologists even arguing that music can play the role of a legal performance enhancing drug. It gives the unique ability of disassociating the mind from fatigue and can improve your endurance by 15%, as well as triggering positive emotions during exercise. For this reason, we’ve created our own ‘Wake Up Wednesdays’ playlist, what we deem to be the perfect soundtrack to any yoga session. Better still, you can listen to it before bed, after all, it has been scientifically proven that listening to yoga music prior to sleeping can reduce anxiety and soothe your heart rate

This isn’t the first time we’ve been involved with the world of tranquillity and relaxation however, having worked with ambient band Marconi Union to create the world’s most relaxing song ‘Weightless’ for Radox, proven to reduce anxiety by 65% and heart rates by 35%. Since working on this project, we’ve sought demonstrate how music and wellness are inextricably linked.

It’s safe to say that this is a welcome change from our typically fast paced environment and a good reminder of how music can be used to unwind.

Our next session is on Wednesday 10th October. If you’re interested in coming along, RSVP at info@pitchandsync.com.
