Malcolm will chair the overall jury of the awards, whose mission is to celebrate mainstream brand campaigns that celebrate human good
Cheil Worldwide Global Chief Creative Officer Malcolm Poynton has been confirmed as Overall Jury Chairman for the 2018 Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards.
The Tambuli Awards honour brands that do good and do well. Entries are considered for their achievement in uplifting society, creating positive change and correlating purpose with purchase.
Malcolm said: “We live on what the American astronomer Carl Sagan referred to as ‘The Pale Blue Dot’. This name came from the image captured in 1990 when Sagan turned Voyager 1 around to snap a shot of Earth from deep space. It revealed a canvas of blackness with a single less-than-a-pixel-sized-dot of pale blue, which puts our reality into perspective.
“This image reminds me constantly of the need for all of us to ensure the brands we work with contribute positively towards the planet. If they don’t, we’re all screwed. Consequently, it’s a privilege to lead the Tambuli Awards jury in seeking out and celebrating brands that are doing good. I hope these will inspire and be a catalyst for others to do better.”
Poynton joined Cheil Worldwide at the beginning of 2015 as the network’s Global Chief Creative Officer. Two times Cannes Jury President, he was recently named one of AdAge magazine’s ‘World Top 10 Digital Minds’ and named by TechCity insider as one of the UK’s leading Digital innovators.
Poynton is passionate about collaborating with global brands to do good, having pioneered defining campaigns for brands including Dove and Cancer Research UK, to Tesco and Samsung.
Under Poynton’s direction, Cheil Worldwide has emerged as one of the world’s leading creative networks in the Gunn Report, helping Samsung win Marketer of the Year titles at the Cannes Lions, EPICA and AdFest.
The APAC Tambuli Awards, which began in 2005 in Manila then opened up to the Asia-Pacific region in 2012, celebrate brands that show the seamless integration of creativity + human + good + results.
Though entries for charity, advocacy, pro bono or CSR advertising are welcomed, the awards’ focus is on mainstream brand campaigns that celebrate humanity, inspire, purpose and deliver results. Entries are accepted from Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East, including campaigns created or initiated from anywhere in the world so long as they have run in Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
Deadline for submission of entries to Tambuli is March 28, 2018. The complete list of categories and entry form are available at www.tambuliawards.asia
