Creative agency Dunlop Goodrich shoots short ahead of rising boxing star's title fight

Sports specialist creative agency Dunlop Goodrich has produced an adrenaline-charged promo called “Write Your Name Into History,” for rising boxing star Chris Eubank Jr and Eubank Promotions/Box Nation ahead of his title fight against Billy Joe Saunders on 29th November. The fight is being shown on Box Nation.

Dunlop Goodrich was asked to create an impactful and cinematic promo to build the hype ahead of the fight, with the film to be aired via team Eubank’s social media platforms.

The agency has a long standing relationship with the Eubanks – with founder Bruce Dunlop producing many of Chris Eubank Senior’s promos for Sky Sports in the 90’s, and creative director Dan Merry having worked with Chris Junior on previous films.

Team Eubank approached the team again ahead of Chris Jr’s first title fight, and it is a project that Dunlop Goodrich took on as a gesture of support for Chris Jr in his quest to become British, Commonwealth and European champion.

Director Dan Merry said: “We shot the film in one day, and included filming at Chris Jr’s open press training session, as well as plenty of moodily lit, smoke-filled, cinematic staged scenes. We were up at the crack of dawn filming Chris’ early morning hill runs in the South Downs, armed with two 5D cameras and a GoPro mounted on a quadcopter to capture the epic wide shots.

The film gets that distinctive, gritty feel by using a black and white treatment, and we occasionally punctuated it with flashes of colour, and the bold, yellow typography. Using a favoured Dunlop Goodrich trick, we projected fight action, explosive textures and fiery footage onto Chris’ body, thereby giving the film an abstract impression occasionally.

The hard-edged, percussive score is designed to build the edit, hopefully giving the film a restless, relentless energy, as well as a sense of brooding, ominous menace.”
