Felt Music’s Steve Spiro was given the job of coming up with an eight-hour playlist. We think he came up trumps…

As co sponsors of the LBB & Friends Beach at Cannes Lions this year, Felt were presented with the daunting yet somewhat exciting task of coming up with an eight hour playlist. This is probably the longest playlist I have ever made, so I decided to carve a soundtrack to the day and split it into sections befitting of the different mood shifts as the day unfolds.

Check out the playlist at the bottom of the page of by clicking here.

Act 1. 10am-11am

This is a cool back-to-mine playlist in homage to the party peep heroes still out from the night before who ended up on our beach dazed and confused, not knowing whether to turn in for a few hours shuteye or carry on going and crash on a lounger. I used chilled electronic beats, lush ambient soundscapes and cinematic jazz as my basic pallet. Weapons of choice in this section include Thievery Corporation, Air, Art of Noise, Digitonal, Kruder and Dorfmeister, and Cinematic Orchestra.

Act 2. 11am-12pm.

Recovery Zone and a flurry of lazy hip hop beats to help ease you back into the day. Included in this section are De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Q-Tip.

Act 3. 12pm-1pm

Rosé O'Clock. Laid back Latin and ‘60s lounge. Included in this section are Astrid Gilberto, Bonobo, Buena Vista Social Club, Herb Albert, Gotan Project and Henry Mancini.

Act 4. 1pm-3pm

Lunchtime and a savoury collection of laid-back sunshine soul and funk classics including Al Green, Bill Withers, Nina Simone, Tom Tom Club and Marvin Gaye.

Act 5. 3pm-4pm

Pre-happy hour and we segway into chilled house grooves featuring The Beloved, Gorgon City, Saint Etienne.

Act 6 4pm-6pm.

Happy Hour Set. This is a vibey mixed bag of uplifting house, soul and hip hop classics including 808 State, Crystal Waters, Daft Punk, X Press 2, Michael Jackson and Barry White.

The Cannes experience for me this year was getting to bring the whole Felt team out with us. It was a good reason to get everyone out of the office and have some fun in the sun whilst doing some quality bonding together. I also loved how the week unravelled on the LBB & Friends Beach. It was great to hold court there for the week and catch up with so many familiar faces, who hung out with us rather than race around town trying to get to all of the daytime parties.
