BRW USA Signs New Director

 

BRW USA, Los Angeles signs Slovakian director Roman Valent for his first U.S. commercial representation.   Valent’s cinematic storytelling has earned him top industry accolades from Cannes, NY Festivals, Epica, Golden Drum and LIA, to name a few.  His sharp sense of humor and knack for uncovering natural acting can be seen in his commercial work for major international brands including T-Mobile, Suzuki and Wüstenrot.

Says BRW USA Executive Producer Gianfilippo Pedrotti, “Roman is a true storyteller.  What drew me towards Roman’s reel was his ability to combine a vast visual style with humor and tie it all together with clever use of VFX.  We are very excited to be able to provide the platform for his U.S. debut.”  Adds Valent, “To me, the true magic of filmmaking appears when the atmosphere around the talent and crew just pulls everyone inside the story.  When there is silence after a take and the crew just keeps watching the scene, then you know the shot is working.  You just know that you are taking part in creating something extraordinary.”  

   

Bratislava-born Valent studied Visual Media in Vienna before beginning his career in the entertainment industry as a film editor.  He next transitioned to an AD role, later taking the director’s seat in 2001 for international commercials, film and television projects.  His first commercial spot, which he wrote, directed and produced, was for Kawasaki in 2003.  The project garnered over 13 international awards and nominations including a Cannes Shortlist, a Cresta Award and a Silver Award at the Golden Drum International Advertising Festival.  In addition to working on over 150 international commercials, the Prague-based helmer has also directed numerous short films.
