Sky News' MP-laden megamix, beer can design, screen licking, iPhone over-excitement and more

With the completion of the Scottish referendum and release of Apple's iPhone 6, it's been a week of frenzied excitement and debate. LBB's Addison Capper calms things down with a gloriously stupid megamix from Sky News, an ode to a poor bloke whose first experiences with his iPhone 6 quite literally hit the ground hard, some super simple beer can design, a Great British train race and more.

1. Stripped Back Beer Design

I am a beer lover. Not that tasteless, mass-produced junk that most high-street bars sell. Proper beer. And while I like to think that I know a thing or two about different drops, I can't help but be swayed by a brew's awesome branding. These designs from Spanish agency Txaber pretty much strip back all of that awesome branding, but to startling affect. They have matched each beer type with its exact Pantone colour system rating and wrapped that colour round the entire can, except for a small strip at the bottom that reads which ale is inside and its Pantone rating in a deft font. See more here.

2. Sky News Scotland Megamix

We already know that Scotland said No, but that doesn't make watching this Sky News megamix any less funny. Come to think of it, seeing David Cameron 'singing' Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' never will get less funny. Also keep an ear out for Alex Salmond's rendition of Queen's 'I Want To Break Free' and Alistair Darling belting out 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley.

3. Get Recognised

Why on Earth is that strange man licking my screen? That strange man is, in fact, BBDO executive creative director Carlos Moreno - the man behind 2011's brilliantly weird Skittles Touch campaign. Here he is reenacting the campaign's Cat spot in a JWT Canada promo for Canadian ad award show The Bessies.

4. Where Are They Now?

It's a tough gig being a cartoon character. A few short years of stardom and bam! Peppa Pig arrives. This bleak animation from Steve Cutts shows the dreary current lives of old cartoon characters such as He-Man, Garfield and the Thundercats, with narration by Jessica Rabbit.

5. Circle Line Race

This guy raced the London Underground - and won. Londoner James Heptonstall leapt from the Circle Line train at Mansion House and sprinted the 380m journey - which included 75 steps and two ticket barriers - and managed to leap back onto the same train at Cannon Street with seconds to spare. Absolutely pointless. But pretty damn awesome.

6. Illuminated Matterhorn

One of the Alps highest peaks seemed to be transformed into an erupting volcano this week. To mark the 150th anniversary of the first ascent to the top of the Matterhorn, which sits on the Swiss-Italian border, Swiss sports gear brand Mammut arranged for the mountain's most popular trail to become a shining path of torch light.

7. Guy Drops iPhone 6

Finally, a quick thought for this chap. Jack from Perth, Australia managed to get himself first in the queue, thus bagging the first iPhone 6 from that Apple Store. And he only went and dropped it on the floor live on television.
