Critically acclaimed director will be represented globally by the production company

BAFTA award-winning Director David Kerr joins Hungry man production company this week to be represented globally, alongside their roster of award winning directors.

One of his most recent commercials Playthings, a gun control PSA, won “Best PSA” at the AICP Awards, snagged 1.5 million Youtube hits on its first day and received acclaim from Time Magazine and The Washington Post. His other most recent award-winning commercial includes Meteor-Brain Surgeon which won a Silver Shark at Kinsale. A series of spots for The Post Office reunited David with celebrated comedy actor Robert Webb, his collaborator on the BAFTA-winning That Mitchell & Webb Look. Described by The Hollywood Reporter as “uproarious and cleverly cheeky,” two of its biggest cheeks were exposed in mock body shock doc, The Boy With An Arse For A Face.

“The funniest, cleverest, most imaginative and original television I’ve seen for as long as I can remember.” That’s how The Times summed up Inside No.9, an anthology of darkly comic films for BBC2. With a stellar cast including Gemma Arterton, the show won Best Comedy at the Banff International Festival and Best Comedy Performance at the 2015 Royal Television Society Awards.

As lead director, David cast and directed Fresh Meat, Channel 4’s multi-award-winning student comedy; beautifully observed kitchen comedy Whites for BBC2/Hulu; and No Offence, Channel 4’s new comedy drama from Shameless writer Paul Abbott, which The Independent calls “exhilarating, ballsy and filthily funny.”

With a first-class degree in Classics from Cambridge University, David is happiest in the place where smart meets silly.
