Ben Ockrent is an award-winning writer/director, working across a range of mediums, including film, television, online, radio and theatre. He’s directed some of the UK’s leading actors and has had his work produced and broadcast all over the world. His first short film, Dust, starring the late Alan Rickman and the new Doctor Who, Jodie Whittaker, was long-listed for the BAFTA for Best Short Film, nominated for a National Film Award for Best Short Film and was a Vimeo Staff Pick and Tribecca Film of the Week.
Ben's latest short film, Edmund the Magnificent, was financed by Creative England / BFI and stars David Bradley (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and the legendary Sir Ian McKellen. He’s currently writing a screenplay (which he’s also slated to direct) for the Academy Award winning producer, Eric Abrahams, at Portobello Productions; a TV drama series for Dancing Ledge in the UK; and is developing a comedy TV series for Sasha Baron Cohen’s company Four by Two in the US.Ben has also been nominated as a Broadcast Magazine “Hotshot” and has a Grade 3 in the lute.
