Eto was one of the very first directors in Japan’s advertising industry to create films with a global perspective.
AOI Pro. has announced that one of its leading directors Hisashi Eto will be an Executive Jury Member at the CICLOPE Asia, the first craft award in the Asia-Pacific region. Eto currently belongs to “CluB_A”, the directors unit AOI Pro. manages.
CICLOPE Asia is an international award show dedicated to craft in advertising and music videos. As the first regional event of CICLOPE Festival in Asia-Pacific, the festival is going to take place in Tokyo on September 1.
The jury members are composed of creative people from throughout Asia and across the world, including creative directors, film directors and producers. Following the online judging, winning works will be selected during the festival from different categories such as Direction, Animation, Visual Effects, Cinematography, Casting, Live Experience and Original Music, among others.
The works selected as the best in each categories and the Grand Prix will automatically become finalists at CICLOPE Festival 2018 which is to be held on November 8 and 9 in Berlin.Hisashi Eto – Commercial Film Director
Gifted with prominent storytelling and aesthetic visual expression, Eto was one of the very first directors in Japan’s advertising industry to create films with a global perspective. He constantly studied the works of international filmmakers, and brought a new perspective to the Japanese film industry, to actively invite DOPs, colorist and editors to Japan, when most of the works were made by all Japanese crew.
Eto was born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1970. He studied filmmaking at New York University, which later greatly influenced his creative style. After returning to Japan, he started working as a TVC director. His works include AIG Japan “#DiversityIsStrength”, “#TackleTheRisk”, Shiseido Tsubaki “Iikami wa senaka wo osu”, SONY “Shibuya City Games” and Fujifilm “The Spirit of Innovators”, which were all much talked about. He has won numerous local and international awards, including Gold in the Film Craft Lotus category at Adfest 2018 for Suntory “Kyoto Fukujuen’s 227th Year of Innovation”, Silver in the Film Craft category at Spikes Asia 2017 for AIG Japan “#TackleTheRisk”, TED Ads Worth Spreading 2011 for Mazda “Defy Convention” and Grand Prix at ACC CM FESTIVAL 2013 for NIKE BASEBALL “Declaration.”See Eto’s profile on CICLOPE Asia’s website
