Following the success of its debut run in Los Angeles, New York, Sao Paolo and Paris, adidas Das Days from adidas Skateboarding arrives in Shanghai with a series of street-level interactive programs and skateboarding community-based activities over nine days from 12th to 20th October 2018.

“What we’re doing is connecting, engaging and empowering the local skate community in Shanghai. Das Days is a community-driven event by skateboarders for skateboarders. China has a really interesting scene, slightly underground, but emerging here and there in pockets across the country. And it’s growing with Shanghai right at the very centre of the action. But Das Days is not about making a huge noise. It’s about getting to the core of what skateboarding is all about and giving the community a voice. It’s street-level and it’s downtown slap-bang in the middle of the city. And it’s a whole lot of fun,” said Glenn Walker, Director of Action Sports, Asia-Pacific at adidas Skateboarding.

adidas partnered with Jack Morton to transform Shanghai with a series of interrelated activities to foster meaningful connections between adidas and the skateboard community. The nine-day festival will include an art exhibition of street art from local emerging artists, a full day of skateboarding contests and challenges, a House Party featuring four rising live music acts, and a global launch of adidas’ new product collaboration with the skateboard brand Alltimers, as well as an intimate skating session with KOLs and fans.

“We’re excited to bring Asia’s first adidas Das Days to life in Shanghai. The nine-day event is designed to immerse fans in everything skateboarding through an unrivalled line-up of exciting events, cool activities and one massive party,” said Natalie Ackerman, EVP Greater China at Jack Morton.

DAS DAYS SHANGHAI SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

OCTOBER 12 - 20 | DAS DAYS COMMUNITY CENTER

adidas Skateboarding invites locals and visitors alike to the Das Days Community Center & Pop-Up shop located at base at 322 Anfu Lu in the former French Concession. Serving as the central hub and meet-up spot, the “Community Center” will offer a Fly Streetwear pop-up retail experience offering a range of limited-edition products and a lounge area complete with video games and skate videos. The Community Center will be open daily from 11am to 7pm.

FRIDAY, OCT 12 | LAUNCH WEEKEND & SHOWCASE X

Showcase X, part of adidas Skateboarding global creators series, is a community-driven, group art exhibition and cultural gathering designed to provide a creative platform to feature works from emerging artists and talent within the skateboarding community. Curated by Fansack and other artists from Shanghai’s emerging art scene like Sheep Chen, Hurricane, Soils, Rainbo and Sars, the exhibition will showcase multiple original pieces created especially for the event. Renown skate photographer Zander Taketomo will display the highlights from his recent Shanghai trips, while local DJ duo, China Social Club, will provide music into the night. The final highlight of the night will be the global video premiere of the latest video of adidas Skateboarding featuring Shanghai resident Brian Peacock, alongside Rodrigo TX, Jenn Soto, Mariah Duran and Lucas Puig.

SATURDAY, OCT 13 | CITY COPA SKATE JAM & HOUSE PARTY

A full day of skateboarding will start at the Community Center where a bus will take everyone to Qibao Plaza (Penguin Plaza), which will feature custom designed obstacles around which the community will be able to skate with adidas’s visiting global team. The return bus trip will drop off everyone at the Community Center, and lead into the House Party. The House Party will be taking place at one of Shanghai’s most notorious live music venues, YUYINTANG. Artists include Gaojiafeng, Dirty Fingers, Dahlia Rosea and Yehaiyahan (Chacha) to help celebrate international cassette store day.

SUNDAY, OCT 14 | TOTE SCREEN-PRINTING WORKSHOP

A hands-on and creative experience of getting messy and having fun, while learning the basics of screen printing. Attendees will leave the day with their own customized tote bag and mostly likely some paint stains on their clothes.

TUESDAY, OCT 16 | SKATE TRIVIA NIGHT WITH KICKERCLUB

Guests are invited to the Community Center to experience trivia on a whole new level. An evening of brain busting skate trivia guaranteed to stump even the most seasoned of skate nerds. Local skaters will be on hand including adidas team riders to see who truly has the most abstract knowledge on skateboarding’s past.

WEDNESDAY, OCT 17 | SKATE MOVIE NIGHT WITH SKATEHERE.COM

A showcase of China’s rich history and heritage of skateboarding with cult classics, one hit wonders, and local tours that have taken place in the most skateable countries on earth. Popcorn and beer will be provided for all in attendance.

FRIDAY, OCT 19 | ADIDAS SKATEBOARDING X ALLTIMERS LAUNCH

adidas Skateboarding and US-based skate brand, Alltimers, will reveal their third collaboration with an equally unique and absurd celebration. In the spirit of the New York skateboarding brand’s irreverently unique concepts, the latest offering is underlined by the theme, ‘Just Like Old Times.’ Building off of the collections’ theme, the two brands will host a medieval festival to commemorate the launch of the new capsule.

SATURDAY, OCT 20 | CAMPUS WEAR TEST & COMMUNITY CENTER CLOSING PARTY

Skaters will be invited to tackle Shanghai streets with the latest silhouette from adidas Skateboarding, the Campus ADV, on foot. Following the afternoon session, the day concludes back at the Community Center with a DJ set presented by local dive bar Specters.
