ZEITGUISED craft a bespoke algorithm to create exclusive handbag range with X-Magazine

In their fourth collaboration on 'phygital' objects (objects that combine physical and digital), Berlin based design studio, ZEITGUISED, team with bag designer Toshiki Yagisawa and his Japan based label X-Magazine. The BAGASHI bag remix project combines aspects of cutting edge digital manufacturing methods and Japanese craft in a tantalizing crossover between the design languages of ZEITGUISED and Toshiki.

X-Magazines’ woven bags have a popular appeal for their stylish look, and durable yet transmissive qualities. Each accessory has a unique design based on a bespoke algorithm created by ZEITGUISED. Each handbag was crafted around individual three-dimensional shapes, leaving unique cut-out holes in the design of the purses. The algorithm crafted by the design studio maintains an open-ended design process, opposed to commonplace standardised finite templates. This means that every shape the algorithm produces is unique. The shapes are used to virtually cut through the bags and are filled with a transparent foil. The result is a surprising window into the bags contents. This upends the notion that the bag serves to hold your belongings securely and hide them from plain sight.

Each bag is handmade in Japan and has a numbered design in a limited edition of 100. All have both a unique cut-out and an individual shamanistic charm dangling from the coloured leather handles.Available in five ZEITGUISED colour schemes.

The launch of BAGASHI will take place at:

Firmament Berlin

Linienstrasse 40 (Rosa Luxemburg Platz)

Monday, January 15, 2018, from 6-10pm.

Toshiki and ZEITGUISED will be present.
