About the position:

The Print Producer is responsible for the coordination and control of multi-media advertising productions. The Print Producer will work directly with clients to firstly engage, plan, then guide the production to an agreed goal, the Print Producer is ultimately responsible for the successful delivery of work.

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth, timely and successful delivery of all productions, from scoping through to final delivery of work that meets expectations and quality standards. You will use the current workflows, systems and procedures, and where possible, help to refine them and develop new processes and structures to ensure that services are provided efficiently and effectively. You will ensure your projects are of the right quality and are produced on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of the client. You will work with clients from an account management perspective, building relationships beyond the bounds of any individual project in terms of timescale and scope enabling you to promote the achievements of the company and procure more business through more personal relationships.


MAIN ASPECTS OF ROLE:

  • Producing projects from pre-production through to post-production and delivery
  • Creating budgets and controlling costs across the Production department
  • Overseeing department workflow to ensure that jobs are delivered within budget, on time and to agreed artistic and technical standards
  • Diary management and scheduling of multiple shoots concurrently
  • Reconciling jobs, billing clients and chasing payment
  • Responsible for effective handover to marketing & keeping the marketing projects list up to date, including the request for final artwork for TJ’s image library and campaign launch dates

Clear and effective communication, team management and the ability to multi-task and problem-solve are important skills in this role, maintaining good morale within the team both in NYC and London. Small office and human resources management will be an aspect of daily duties in line with the effective delivery of projects.

 

DUTIES

Project Management

Manage multiple productions through the full life cycle, making sure that services are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

Proactively manage the project scope to ensure we deliver what was agreed, providing direction and/or clarification of project goals through the creation and maintenance of clear job documentation. This includes reporting on job performance on completion.

Responsible for individual project schedules, ensuring that projects have the resources required to be completed on time and with the correct skill set allocated to them. Raising conflicts with production team and finding solutions where necessary.

Working with the Creative team to ensure that a balance is made between schedule, cost and creativity during the production workflow.

Supervise all work, ensuring it is carried out to the appropriate technical and creative standard and that it is managed to schedule and budget, whilst ensuring the client’s brief and expectations are met.

Identify, manage and mitigate project risk.

Reviewing and then putting into action the evaluation of a job once complete, helping to implement improvements within the TJ framework based on these findings.

 

Production Management

Work with the Production team to update and manage the overall production schedule with a holistic approach, ensuring that the requirements of the whole production team are considered and that the other team members are aware of the needs of your projects.

Contribute to the review of existing production management processes including handover systems between operators. Put forward methods for improving existing processes where appropriate.

Knowing what each member of your project team is working on, on a daily basis and able to direct them to reach project goals.

Ability to assist other TJ artists with resourcing and tasks when their project manager is not there.

Have a good working knowledge of all production and post-production processes, to be able to effectively manage artists, draw up schedules and to foresee potential problems within a production.

 

Client Management

To be able to take a client brief – intelligently questioning the client to fully understand the exact scope of their requirements and clearly define the deliverables.

To keep clients informed on the status of projects on a regular basis following an agreed schedule, along with the production team.

To explain in detail the production and post-production practices in relation to a production workflow, to educate the client and to inform them of potential limitations or decision points along the pipeline.

Manage client expectations and operate as a conduit between the client and internal staff.

To fully understand the business and marketing challenges faced by TJ and our clients

To be able to actively sell the production services – constantly looking to secure more work from clients, spotting new business opportunities and potential extra revenue streams

To be able to debate constructively with clients and be viewed as a credible and trusted advisor.

 

Financial management

To carefully manage both the time and material costs incurred throughout a project – to maximize job profitability and ensure that overruns are covered through gaining additional budgets where appropriate.

Effective negotiation of commercial, financial and contractual arrangements where required; managing and developing relationships with external suppliers/resources and outsourcing

To evaluate job profitability at the beginning, throughout and at the end of your projects, flagging any issues or overruns where you see them. Create clear reports at the end of projects to present to the Executive Producer for the Monthly Board Meetings where profitability is reviewed.

 

Staff management

Be proactive team player able to lead and drive projects from concept to closure, ensuring that standard processes and procedures are followed.

Keep lines of communication open and keep staff and production updated on work status on a daily basis.

Liaising among different departments supervising and motivating a team of operators.

To absorb the anxieties of those around you and keep projects moving forward

Provide accurate verbal and written feedback and instructions to all involved in the project.

 

New Business

Assist Sales with bids for print campaigns, ensuring all pertinent questions are asked of clients/agencies and accurate timings and competitive costs are given to maximize profitability

Use Salesforce to input and update bids and projects, and to monitor the development of any project throughout its lifecycle.

Fully understand our products and services portfolio to ensure that all clients are offered the best solutions in terms of budgetary, schedule and creative output.

 

Technical Requirements

In addition to being a highly motivated, organized multitasker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the following technical skills are a must:

  • 4+ years professional experience and knowledge in print production environment. Must have basic technical knowledge of general print material development.
  • Understanding of CGI & Photography & Print workflow and related practices
  • Experience working directly with clients/directors and of leading teams
  • Capable of motivating and leading a team with enthusiasm and clarity
  • Good knowledge of project management systems and procedures
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Practical understanding of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat
  • Willingness and ability to travel for work-related events.
  • Has experience working with both agency clients and clients directly from brands
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
